Function

The Braunschweig Cathedral functioned as a religious site for the Ducal house of Braunschweig and housed the Guelph Treasure before its eventual gifting to Duke John Frederick of Hanover.

Description

The Guelph Treasure was shown at the Braunschweig Cathedral in an immense display of the wealth and devotion of the Guelph family. The Treasure was added to over the years through numerous donations, gifts, and trophies acquired by the Guelph family during their reign as the Ducal family.
